There is a before and an after in my career. A clear moment when my horizon expanded, new doors opened, when I felt an incredible sense of renewal, challenge and panic. That was the day I left Corporate.
The sentiment that moods and emotions should be suppressed rather than expressed has deep roots in our corporate and entrepreneur world. Emotional displays are often deemed unprofessional or as a sign of poor leadership, based on the belief that good leaders must always appear composed and in control of themselves.
zscala is one month old! Reflecting on these past weeks, Miami once again made my heart beat faster and my spirits rise higher. This city that has been my home for the last 12 years never ceases to inspire me and open new horizons.
When I was young, my Dad was a huge fan of western movies. I grew up with Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin and Yul Brynner as my heroes.

“There is no time nor bandwidth for culture (dismissive tone) when you are trying to raise money. The only culture we had was DYFJ.”
