Think like the French. Lessons from Bastille Day.

After 13 years in Miami, I remain strongly attached to my French roots.

Bastille Day, our Fête Nationale, commemorates the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. The Bastille, a symbol of royal tyranny, was a fortress in the heart of the capital, where the King could imprison anyone without trial. That event marks the beginning of the French Revolution, that would eventually lead to the fall of the Monarchy and the birth of the French Republic – Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité.

Unprecedented and unique in human history. Only in France.

In 1793, the unquestionable divine rights of kings and privileges of the noble class were publicly and permanently shattered. Louis XVI was tried as a citizen, found guilty of treason, and guillotined by his own people. Queen Marie-Antoinette was beheaded too shortly afterwards.

Brutal, radical. Sometimes real transformations need more than a nudge. And courage. For a moment, think French 🇫🇷

  • What untouchable truth in your life needs to be put on trial?
  • What belief do you still bow to only because it feels sacred?
  • If you could behead one inherited rule or identity, what would it be?
  • And then, what becomes possible?

What does your own revolution look like?
